Oman National Geoid (OMANGEOID)

The accuracy of GPS height measurements depends on several factors but most crucial one is the "imperfection" of the earth's surface. At present GPS heights are ellipsoidal heights which are not accurate. A height modernization effort was thus required by developing a gravity network that enables all organizations within the Sultanate of Oman to determine accurate orthometric heights. This project provides the National Survey Authority (NSA) with the capability to establish a modern height system in Oman.

For this project NSA has been awarded the "Geospatial World Excellence Awards which is an internationally-acclaimed private award recognizing exemplary Innovations and practices in the global geospatial industry. Conferred under the auspices of Geospatial Word Forum every year. The National Survey Authority, Sultanate of Oman has been selected for this award which will be presented during the Geospatial Word Forum on 25th January 2017"
